Capitals Score Three Straight and Hold Off Panthers 4-3

Washington erased a 2-1 deficit with goals by Alex Tuch, Aliaksei Protas and Pierre-Luc Dubois, then protected the lead through Florida's late goal.

A home win built at even strength

The Washington Capitals defeated the Florida Panthers 4-3 at Capital One Arena on Saturday. Washington scored all four goals at even strength and finished with a 31-30 edge in shots. The official game summary records attendance of 18,347 and lists the Capitals at 9-6-0 after their fifteenth game.

How the lead changed hands

Johnathan St. Ivany opened the scoring 2:21 into the first period with his first goal of the season. Florida answered twice, including a power-play goal, to lead 2-1. Alex Tuch tied the game at 4:39 of the second, Aliaksei Protas put Washington ahead at 14:55, and Pierre-Luc Dubois extended the lead early in the third.

The closing pressure

Sam Bennett scored for Florida with 47 seconds remaining, cutting the margin to one. Washington still completed the 4-3 win. The game sheet shows the Panthers went one-for-five on the power play while Washington finished zero-for-three. That special-teams difference narrowed the contest even though the Capitals produced the decisive even-strength goals.

Discipline changed the workload

Washington was assessed six penalties totaling 23 minutes, including a first-period major and game misconduct to Tom Wilson. Florida had four minor penalties. Penalty totals do not measure every disputed play, but they show why the Capitals spent more time short-handed and why their even-strength scoring mattered. Any supplemental discipline would require a later league notice.

Reading one win in context

The official summary provides goals, assists, shots, penalties and goaltending results, but it does not settle broader judgments about form. Washington's three-goal run and late defense are the clear game-level facts. Future lineup, health and disciplinary updates should come from the club or league, and the next result will provide a better test of whether the response continues.
